Job Responsibilities

Documenting patient consultations in the clinical system. Maintaining appropriate records to ensure continuity and quality of care for patients. Involvement in Practice development, identifying service changes in line with clinical needs locally. Maintaining records of appointments, financial transactions, and other administrative duties. Maintaining skills at the current level and undertaking such training and development as required to maintain personal competence. Participation in all activities required by CQC registration. Acting in such a manner as to support patients at all times and being mindful of the need to reduce anxiety for patients. Providing a phlebotomy (blood sampling) service for patients. Processing and managing laboratory samples requested by clinicians, ensuring that the samples are correctly labelled, sent to the laboratory promptly, and that data is entered onto the patient's notes. Maintaining and cleaning equipment. Restocking all clinical areas and maintaining a stock rotation system. Maintaining an adequate amount of clinical supplies and health promotion materials as agreed with the clinical team. Obtaining, processing, and/or using information in line with the GDPR requirements. Ensuring that drug/vaccine refrigerators are at the correct temperature daily and maintaining the Vaccine Cold Chain documented record according to Practice Guidelines. Maintaining the health information notice board in line with national/local health promotion campaigns. Attending relevant meetings as required. Immediately reporting any safeguarding or compliance concerns. Reviewing patients regarding: Complex wounds Ear syringing ABPI Pre-diabetes checks Diabetic foot checks Cytology paperwork to include Open Exeter, recalls, and fail safe Stick rotation HMBP Cardio loop monitor CHD obs (height/weight/blood pressure) and liaising with a clinician if any concerns Hypertension obs (height/weight/blood pressure) and liaising with a clinician if any concerns Rheumatology obs (height/weight/blood pressure) and liaising with a clinician if any concerns Nephrostomy change Acting as a chaperone as requested by clinicians. Functioning as an integral part of the Highcroft Surgery team. Participating in the induction programme of new staff joining Highcroft Surgery. Participating in developing the philosophy, goals, and objectives for health care provided by Highcroft Surgery. Participating in patient audits. Ensuring that patients' rights are protected. Having knowledge of and acting at all times within the boundaries of Health and Safety legislation, Data Protection Acts, and Care Quality Commission compliance requirements. Providing information for a DBS check and informing the Practice of any incident that may change the DBS status. Being responsible for your own Health & Safety. Working within your personal competence. Promoting and participating in a high standard of care within Highcroft Surgery. Participating in taking care of your own Health & Safety and ensuring that you do not do anything to compromise the health and safety of either your colleagues or yourself. Giving agreed notice of periods of absence and leave. Attending Practice meetings as required.
