Role Overview: As a Health Care Assistant working with a male patient with a spinal injury, you will assist with both personal care and rehabilitation tasks to ensure comfort, safety, and dignity. You will work closely with the patient and a multidisciplinary care team to support daily activities, rehabilitation exercises, and mobility needs. This role requires a compassionate, patient, and flexible individual who is committed to providing the highest level of care. Key Responsibilities: Assist with personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, ensuring dignity and respect at all times. Support with mobility and transfers using appropriate techniques and equipment (e.g., hoists, wheelchairs). Help with daily living activities such as meal preparation, feeding, and maintaining a clean and safe living environment. Monitor the patient’s physical and emotional well-being, reporting any changes to senior staff. Assist with rehabilitation exercises and encourage participation in physical therapy and mobility training. Administer medication as prescribed and assist with health monitoring (training provided). Provide emotional and social support, fostering a positive and supportive relationship with the patient. Help with household tasks, including laundry, light cleaning, and shopping as required. Maintain accurate records of care provided and assist with the development of individual care plans. About You: Previous experience in health or social care, particularly working with individuals with physical disabilities or spinal injuries, is desirable but not essential. A caring, compassionate, and patient approach to care, with a genuine interest in supporting the patient’s recovery and well-being. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with the patient, their family, and the care team. Ability to assist with physical tasks such as mobility support and personal care tasks with professionalism and respect. Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the patient. Willingness to undertake training in spinal injury care, moving and handling, and other health and safety practices. A reliable, trustworthy, and empathetic individual who is dedicated to providing high-quality, person-centred care.
