Health Improvement Manager

within the Healthy Hospitals Programme of

The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust . The Health Improvement Manager is an essential role to the success of the Healthy Hospitals Programme, in particularity the QUIT element of the Programme. QUIT is a smoking cessation initiative aimed at supporting patients admitted to hospital who smoke, to help them to stop with the appropriate treatment and support from our team. We are looking for proactive and enthusiastic candidates that are comfortable with operational management of a busy service. The role is dynamic in the support of our inpatient, outpatient and staff services. The role will suit someone who can manage a team, and has good interpersonal skills, to build relationships with our clinical teams across the hospital. The role will suit someone who is comfortable leading a team, taking ownership and pride in management of a service. There is opportunity to develop and grow the service further and put the individual's own stamp on the direction of travel. The post holder will work closely with the Trust's Consultant in Public Health and the Healthy Hospital Programme Manager. To lead the operational management of the QUIT programme with support from the Healthy Hospital Programme Manager. You will be patient-facing and directly line manage the Tobacco Treatment Advisors. You will advise the Trust on appropriate measures to reduce harm from tobacco and support smoke-free sites; developing and managing the Tobacco Harm Reduction Service within the Trust; providing tobacco dependency interventions and advice to patients, staff and in some instances relatives/carers of patients; and supporting the training of Trust staff. The post holder will also contribute to the wider role of the team in the promotion, development, monitoring and evaluation of the QUIT programme. As the wider Healthy Hospital Programme develops the remit of the role will broaden out. About us

Experience

Experience of delivering smoking cessation and tobacco harm reduction interventions Substantial experience of delivering healthcare, or specialist health advice to patients and the public Experience of supervising staff Experience of delivering training Experience of using Microsoft Office software i.e., Word, Outlook, Excel Experience of working in NHS secondary care Monitoring, evaluation and audit, including report writing Qualifications

Degree or professional qualification in a related subject Evidence of ongoing professional development (CPD) Smoking Cessation Training Level 2 delivered by an NHS Stop Smoking Service or the National Centre for Smoking Cessation and Training or willingness to undertake on commencement of post Willing to undertake Level 3 training Teaching/training qualification Knowledge

Knowledge and understanding of the NHS specialist knowledge relating to tobacco control and tobacco dependency treatment Good knowledge and understanding of evidence-based practice Understanding the principles and approaches that are key to health improvement practice and behaviour change. Understanding of factors contributing to health inequalities. Understand and maintain confidentiality issues Knowledge of patient engagement techniques for service development or improvement Disclosure and Barring Service Check
