Position Summary: Responsible for the daily operation of the Health Information Management Department, which includes data entry, retrieval and scanning of health information into the electronic health records, tracking missing data. Job Responsibilities: Monitors (D)ocument, (L)ab, (R)eferral, & (T)elephone jellybeans assigned to the HIM Department Handles incoming telephone calls Processes release of information pursuant to signed record release Processes incoming documents (i.e., post office mail, fax server) Scans or attaches each document to patient’s clinical record. Attaches to Lab/Xray order as needed. Distributes forms to be completed by provider to appropriate destination. Sets up alerts for legal documents. Scans “Old Records” into Chart Capture Scans outgoing forms completed by the providers into the EMR. Scans dental films into Open Dental Scans documents generated by office. Scans RHIO consents in eCW and RHIO. Checks each patient for documents/labs/xrays needed for next day appointment Follows up on the status of open referrals. Monitors “To Be Reviewed”/ “outstanding” labs Monitors the fax server to ensure that faxes are being received. Checks RHIO or lab company when e-results have not been received. Follows the state and federal laws and established OOH policies and procedures in regard to confidentiality issues in the release of health information and/or clinical records. Strict adherence to confidentiality of all information related to OOH patients, staff and organizational information. Disposes health information in designated confidential bins. Responsible for inactivating and reactivating records accordingly. Maintains good attendance and punctuality Any other reasonable requests from management.
