Health & Safety Advisor

to help keep our people safe while we continue our mission to drive the energy revolution forward.

As a Health and Safety Advisor at Octopus Energy Services, you will be vital in promoting and maintaining a safe working environment. From ensuring best-in-class safety practices to keeping us compliant with regulations, you’ll be a driving force behind our culture of safety.

What You'll Do... Continually promote our health & safety ethos and culture at all levels in the company. Develop, implement, and review health and safety policies, procedures, and management systems to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and industry best practices. Offer support and direction to our managers and project teams regarding important health and safety issues, such as proper equipment usage, PPE needs, and emergency protocols. Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify hazards, assess risks, and recommend corrective actions to mitigate potential safety issues. Develop and deliver health and safety training for colleagues, ensuring that all personnel are engaged, understand their responsibilities and are competent to perform their duties safely. Contribute to, and deliver, initiatives and projects to help improve awareness of relevant safety-related topics. Develop health and safety-related communications to ensure they are informative and engaging. Support managers to complete accident/incident investigations and review the quality and content to ensure sufficient root causes, findings, and actions. Liaise with regulatory authorities, clients, and other stakeholders on health and safety matters, representing the company’s interests and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations. Contribute effectively and support our safety plan to strive for continuous improvement. Monitor and report on health and safety performance, including key performance indicators (KPIs), to senior management and project stakeholders. What You'll Need...

NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent qualification in occupational health and safety. Proven experience in a health and safety advisory role. Thorough knowledge of health and safety legislation, regulations, and standards applicable to the energy sector. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels. The ability to report information clearly and concisely. Excellent organisational and analytical abilities, with attention to detail and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively. Ability to work well under pressure.
