About the Team
Our People and Capability Team are a diverse team of HR professionals who provide critical support to the department across a number of areas. We provide expert advice to enable the department to achieve its wider aims, delivering everything from day-to-day support to transformational change. We work closely with senior leaders to make sure that our work genuinely supports and makes valuable contributions to the organisation.
About the Job
In this role, you will:
Develop, implement, monitor and improve health and safety policies and procedures, with ownership of specific policies.
Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Lead wellbeing initiatives and programs to promote a positive and healthy workplace culture in line with our People Strategy.
Work with senior managers to develop solutions to emerging wellbeing issues, including developing products and ensuring a regular rhythm of communication across the organisation.
Investigate and report on incidents, accidents, and near misses, and implement corrective actions.
Identify changes to legislation and best practice to develop, guide and inform the health and safety policy and standards and wellbeing Strategy and health and safety Delivery Plan.
Provide specialist technical knowledge on mental health and/or occupational health to help inform policy and decision making on issues.
Lead on ensuring mental health first aid programme is in place and maintained.

About You
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Health and Safety and Wellbeing Lead to join our team and drive our health and safety initiatives forward, ensuring we meet our statutory duties as an employer. You will be familiar with Health and Safety Legislation and the requirements needed to fulfil our obligations.
You will be forward-thinking, with good attention to detail, as well as experience of improving processes and ways of working.
You will be experienced at working in an advisory capacity, influencing change and supporting the development and implementation of a positive health, safety and wellbeing culture at both senior management and organisational level.
You will be flexible in your approach and will be able to work on mixed and sometimes complex projects, with competing demands, ensuring outputs are on time and meet quality expectations.
You will also have practical experience in carrying out a range of evidence and intelligence gathering activities to support effective regulatory decision making.
