Our client is a major design, engineering and project management consultancy who has been rapidly growing within various sectors. They currently have a new opportunity for a Health & Safety Consultant to join them. Based in either their Edinburgh, Glasgow or Aberdeen Offices, you will cover a range of sectors including but not limited to: property, industrial, and education.

The role is primarily based on the delivery of CDM Services, although experience of delivering additional associated Health & Safety Services could be an advantage.

You will be responsible for delivering a number of roles, which they have established following the introduction of CDM 2015, in all technical and contractual aspects of professional practice.

Other responsibilities include:

Providing Health & Safety Services on both independent commissions and also to complement their wider project delivery services. Production of pre-construction information, files, and other associated CDM documents. Ensuring Designer compliance. Reviewing contractors’ documentation. Interfacing with clients and design teams on a project basis. Advise clients on procurement options and consultant appointment issues. Pro-active in business development of the Services within the Region. Keep updated with current legal developments in respect of construction and associated law.

Requirements: They require a consultant with suitable and relevant experience, ideally from a design or construction background. Professional Qualification in Design or Construction. NEBOSH qualified (minimum Construction Certificate). Preferable Member of APS / IOSH. Experience in a similar role. Good IT skills and working knowledge of MS Office: Word, Excel, and Outlook. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the component parts of CDM 2015 and other Health & Safety issues. Working knowledge of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. Health & Safety Training capability may be an advantage.

The Person: Strong Communication skills - experience of communicating with people at differing levels effectively through oral and written communication. Client facing skills - experience of working with clients at a strategic/operational level and managing the relationships effectively. Strong Planning and Organising skills - able to prioritise workload and deadlines and manage change effectively. Effective problem resolution skills - solution-oriented with the ability to manage problems and complaints assertively. Teamwork skills - ability to work with others to achieve team and personal targets or objectives.
