MC Technical Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Health, Safety and Environmental Manager to join a brand-new Energy from Waste Power Station currently under construction in the West Midlands. Once operational, this plant will process almost 400,000 tonnes of waste, producing enough energy to power more than 95,000 homes. The HSE Manager will be responsible for all matters relating to environmental compliance and health and safety across the facility.

This is a great opportunity for someone to join a brand-new facility during the final phases of construction and take the plant through commissioning into full commercial operation.

As the HSE Manager, you will be responsible for:

Managing the compliance of the Environmental Management System including conducting internal and external audits. Managing site Health and Safety and promoting a culture of safe working practices. Supporting the site management team with safe systems of work and permit to work systems for safety across the facility. Investigating and reporting all site incidents and implementing any procedural improvements. Liaising with the site management team to discuss any potential breaches or risks to the plant. Ensuring site compliance with all relevant industry standards and guidelines such as PSSR, LOLER, PUWER, and COSHH.

To be considered for this role, you should have: A relevant scientific or environmental related qualification at HNC level or above along with a NEBOSH diploma or similar or proven experience in H&S management. At least 4 years of experience in the waste management, energy from waste, power, or heavy process industry in a relevant role (e.g., HSE Advisor, H&S Engineer, QHSE specialist). Knowledge of CEMS and awareness of various ISO standards would be ideal - ISO9001, 14001, and 45001. Good understanding of CDM regulations, permit to work, and safe systems of work. The ability to manage circa 50 contractors during plant shutdowns.
