The Role: Health and Safety Manager

As a Health and Safety Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the well-being of all employees, contractors, and visitors. Reporting directly to the Group Health and Safety Manager, you will be a key advisor and implementer of health and safety strategies.

Key responsibilities include:

Developing and implementing health and safety policies and procedures tailored to operational needs. Conducting thorough risk assessments, audits, and inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance. Investigating incidents and accidents, producing detailed reports, and recommending preventative actions. Delivering engaging health and safety training sessions and toolbox talks. Monitoring compliance with UK legislation, health, and safety best practices. Preparing detailed reports for management and external authorities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Collaborating with site teams to resolve safety issues effectively. Supporting the Group Health and Safety Manager in compiling group-wide safety metrics and reporting on KPIs. Acting as the main point of contact for workplace incident claims with the company’s insurers.

About You

To excel as a Health and Safety Manager, you should have:

A NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent (essential). Membership with IOSH or similar professional accreditation. Proven experience in a health and safety management role, ideally within manufacturing, logistics, or industrial sectors. In-depth knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and regulatory requirements. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and relevant health and safety software. A proactive mindset with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
