Our client is keen to recruit a Health & Safety Manager to play a pivotal role in enhancing the safety frameworks and enforcing compliance with health and safety regulations at their thriving FMCG site, specialising in food manufacturing. Your mission will be to support our operational teams by implementing robust safety systems and fostering a culture of safety across all operations, contributing to both our site and group-wide occupational health and safety strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and oversee health and safety systems to ensure they meet all group and legal standards. Implement and sustain our health and safety policy while guiding the site management teams on best practices and compliance. Lead safety audits, risk assessments, and ensure control systems are efficient and frequently updated. Facilitate comprehensive accident and incident investigations, using findings to drive corrective actions and prevent future occurrences. Produce and analyse safety performance metrics, presenting insights and improvement strategies in clear, actionable formats. Conduct regular health and safety training sessions and workshops for all staff, promoting a culture of safety and awareness. Manage our environmental compliance in collaboration with the Environmental Manager. Chair the site's Health & Safety Committee and organise monthly safety meetings to review policies and discuss improvements. Integrate safety regulations into all workforce activities, coordinating with HR to ensure all compliance and training needs are met. Work closely with engineering teams to ensure all new projects and installations comply with safety standards. Engage actively with local regulatory authorities such as the Health & Safety Executive and the Environment Agency to maintain compliance and represent the company in official matters. Part of the crisis management and site food defence team, ready to handle emergency situations effectively. Manage fire control systems and oversee first aid provisions to enhance site safety preparedness.

Skills & Qualifications:

A minimum of 5 years of health and safety experience in an FMCG manufacturing environment, preferably in the food sector. National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety required; National Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management Professionals (NEBOSH) preferred. Demonstrated ability to lead and influence a safety culture change within a complex organisational structure. Excellent organisational skills with the capability to perform well in high-pressure situations. Adept at data analysis, with a keen ability to produce and interpret safety statistics and trend reports. Strong problem-solving skills and a lean management approach to improve safety measures continuously. Effective communicator with the ability to conduct training, facilitate meetings, and liaise with regulatory bodies.
