Lawyer (Healthcare and Welfare) Locum Contract - Full time £255 per day PAYE (£66,470 Annual Equivalent) London An exciting opportunity has come up for a UK-qualified Lawyer to join a Central Government team to provide high-quality services in an interesting arm 's-length Central Government body. The client is seeking a lawyer to join their Healthcare and Welfare team to advise on healthcare and welfare cases in the Court of Protection. They are looking for an enthusiastic individual with litigation experience to join them on a locum-contract basis. As a lawyer in their healthcare and welfare team, you will assist to promote access to justice for vulnerable members of society and should be committed to providing the best level of service. Key responsibilities: Managing healthcare and welfare cases in the Court of Protection. Manage a personal caseload of both welfare and serious medical treatment cases. Instruct specialist counsel as well as independent experts. Liaise with the client and family and friends to ascertain wishes and feelings and to report back to the court. Provide guidance and supervision to non-legally trained case managers. Required skills: Applicants must be qualified lawyers eligible to practice within England and Wales. Litigation experience is essential. Experience with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and practice and procedure in Court of Protection welfare work including the relevant court rules. Knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 would also be of assistance but is not essential. Knowledge of civil litigation practice and procedure would be helpful but is not essential.
