An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 3 Healthcare Assistant to join our busy Critical Care Team (ICU/HDU) at Epsom & St Helier University Hospital NHS Trust. The base site for this post is St. Helier Hospital ICU, which comprises 13 beds with specialities including emergency/scheduled general surgery, acute medicine, and renal. Epsom Hospital HDU/ICU comprises 8 beds and predominantly provides care for elective surgical and acute medical admissions. As Critical Care provision is a 24 hours, 7 days a week service, applicants will be expected to undertake internal rotation, including weekends, night duties, and bank holidays. Applicants will be required to work across both hospital sites to fulfil the job role, learning and development requirements, and service needs. Main duties of the job
The HCA role supports the clinical team in caring for critically ill patients and their loved ones, and ensuring clean and organised clinical areas. You would be responsible for providing fundamental aspects of patient care at the direction of the qualified nursing team to ensure critically ill patients receive high quality, dignified, and respectful care. We are looking for someone who is “hands-on” with healthcare experience, preferably in acute care, and who possesses the following attributes: Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills. Ability to work confidently and collaboratively across professional boundaries and use your initiative. Ability to work flexibly according to the day-to-day service needs. Qualifications
Essential criteria
Good standard of general education, including numeracy & literacy skills, with attention to accuracy & detail. Completed NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare or equivalent Knowledge and experience
