An exciting opportunity has arisen on Puffin Ward. We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and compassionate health care assistant to join our team. We are a 16 bedded paediatric ward caring for patients from 0-18 years with both short term and long term illness and conditions. We care for both medical and surgical patients as well as those with mental health illnesses. You must be motivated and committed to the delivery of high quality care, and have the ability to communicate and work effectively with children of all ages and their families. You will be working within a multidisciplinary team to provide support to the children and families. Ideally, you will have previous experience working with children and/or previous experience in a health care setting. Main duties of the job

Our Health Care Assistants work as part of the multi-professional team caring for patients aged from 0-16 years and their parents/carers. Our Health Care Assistants: Promote and support registered staff with the physical health, comfort and wellbeing of babies/children/young people, including recording vital signs once competency is completed. Support parents/carers to provide babies, children and young people with personal care, ensuring privacy and dignity is maintained at all times. Provide support and supervision for patients admitted with Eating disorders and Mental Health needs, working alongside the registered staff to care for these patients, recognizing their individual needs which includes patients requiring mealtime support or supervision. Escort patients from the ward to other departments within the hospital. Keep the ward clean and tidy and support with keeping the ward well stocked. Working for our organisation

GCSE Maths, English and Science at Grade 4 or above (C or above). Excellent comprehension of English both written and spoken. NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
