The Nutrition & Dietetic Service is seeking an experienced Support Worker to work within the Nutritional Support and Prescribing Team at Lynebank Hospital in Dunfermline. We are looking for someone with outstanding and proven communication skills. Experience of direct patient contact is highly preferred as is knowledge of prescribing and pharmacy processes. You must have solid organisational skills and a good knowledge of office management and administration duties. Good computer skills are essential. A helpful and approachable manner and the ability to work well as part of a small team is a critical component of the post. The Nutrition & Dietetic Service: A Fife wide Service providing Dietetic Care to Children and Adults in both Community and Acute Hospitals. The Service is currently arranged into various clinical teams for; Acute, Adult Weight Management & Diabetes, Mental Health & Learning Disabilities, Nutritional Support & Prescribing, Older People, and Infant Nutrition & Paediatrics. Fife operates a Non-Prescribing Ordering Model (Off Script) for Oral Nutritional Supplements and is about to embark on a unique Dietetic Led Prescription Model for Community Enteral Tube Feeds which will form a key component of this post. You will be involved in the transition of existing patients to the new model, taking calls from the contracted nutrition company, patients & carers, and arranging prescriptions for the supply and delivery of nutritional products in the community via electronic ordering systems. The Dietetic Service takes both undergraduate and graduate Dietetic students for B & C programmes each year, involving staff in the delivery and organisation of the programmes. The Service runs regular training sessions and supports staff in their continuing professional development. Induction and training will be provided to facilitate transition into your new role. A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme prior to appointment. NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part-time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37-hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
