Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen within UHD's Outpatients department at Poole, to join our highly diverse and motivated team looking after children and adults in both clinical and surgical settings. Outpatients is a large part of the patient pathway, whether it is their first appointment, a follow up appointment or a minor surgical procedure. Our nursing is there to support them throughout the patient journey. If you have excellent communication skills and really care about supporting patients within a clinic or surgical setting we have a brilliant opportunity within our friendly outpatients team. Qualifications Essential Good standard of numeracy and Literacy Completion of a competency-based workbook (Care Certificate) or equivalent relevant experience to vocational level 3. Experience Essential Ability to adapt and learn in healthcare environment Desirable Previous experience of working within a care environment /NHS Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team Experience of working with the public Basic food handling Technical skills / Competencies Essential Ability to communicate clearly and effectively (to understand and be understood) Ability to follow clear instruction and feed back to senior staff. Ability to work as part of a team, as well as on own initiative IT literate Desirable Understanding of basic physiology normal vital signs, fluid balance, nutritional requirements etc. Venepuncture Simple wound dressings Performing ECG's Knowledge Essential An understanding around basic patient care Understanding of the importance of the promotion of health and well-being Desirable Knowledge of care and related procedures, clinical observations, relevant legislation; Other requirements specific to role Essential Professional appearance Tactful and polite Ability to communicate with all levels of staff Ability to exchange factual information accurately Ability to deal with sensitive situations Patient and calm Kind and compassionate Please note that if you are NOT a passport holder of the country for the vacancy you might need a work permit.
