Come and join us at AWP Mental Health Trust and become an NHS Hero by supporting your local community.

We are very proud of our amazing staff, who continue to support people with organic mental health issues across the region.

We are looking for new colleagues, with a passion for helping people, to join us as a

Healthcare Support Worker

in our team based at

Liddington Ward , the Victoria Centre.

Liddington Ward is a 12 bedded Acute Assessment unit for Older Adults who have a range of organic illnesses, such as Alzheimer's Disease and other forms of Dementia.

Our goal is to enable individuals to live well with Dementia during this difficult chapter of their lives.

The ward team works tirelessly with our service users and their family/carers, ensuring they have the support they need and feel comfortable that their loved ones are being well looked after. Working closely with our multi-disciplinary teams, supporting service users, you will receive training to complete the NHS Care Certificate and a Level 3 and beyond Healthcare apprenticeship. If you have some experience of caring work already, that would be great - but if not, we will support you to develop the skills and experience needed.

This role is on a ward that operates on a rotational 24/7 shift basis: early, late, and night shifts. Staff will qualify for unsocial enhancements in addition to their basic pay. You will have excellent communication skills and be happy to participate in the internal 24 hours, 7 day a week rota to meet the needs of people who use our services.

We expect you to be able to demonstrate how you have worked effectively in a multi-disciplinary team setting. You will need to demonstrate your commitment to personal development. Your attitude is crucial. At Liddington Ward, we deliver person-centred care. We believe that with our help, people can be supported to live well with their diagnosis and spend quality time with their loved ones.

We are AWP (Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust): a diverse organisation with over 5,000 dedicated staff providing inpatient and community-based mental health care.

We provide services from a range of locations to approximately 1.8 million people living in Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES), Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Swindon, across the county of Wiltshire and in parts of Dorset.

Our outstanding people promote mental health and wellbeing. The expertise and resources within AWP are dedicated to a person-centred approach for those who use our services and for all employees. We recognise that happy and fulfilled employees give better care.

At AWP, we actively encourage applicants from all backgrounds; we are particularly keen to encourage applications from people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds, those with disabilities, and from the LGBTQ+ community. We want people to bring their unique blend of experiences, backgrounds, perspectives, and knowledge to AWP, as diversity makes us stronger.
