An exciting opportunity has arisen for Health and Care Professions Council registered Biomedical Scientists to join our senior team as Healthcare Scientist Team Manager for ICC with delegated responsibility for Quality. The ICC department has recently undergone major investment in a new lab with ergonomic benching, microtomes, and the purchase of 3 Benchmark Ultra Staining Platforms. You must have professional knowledge and technical expertise in ICC attained either through a relevant master's degree, Higher Specialist Diploma, or extensive experience of working in an ICC department. You must also have a good understanding of the principles of current practice in this area of expertise. The applicant will: Manage and coordinate day-to-day technical activities of the ICC section of the laboratory service. Be responsible for standards and quality of performance of the ICC section of the department, including instrument and procedural problem solving. Process a broad range of specialist diagnostic ICC and IF investigations in the department using a range of scientific measurements and technical procedures on patient samples. Develop and deliver training and assess competence of Healthcare Scientists, trainee Healthcare Scientists, and HCS support workers as required. Participate as part of the management team within the Pathology Department. Quality lead for the department. Evidence of active participation in Continuing Professional Development is required. The Laboratory is accredited to ISO 15189:2022 and provides Pathology, Cytology, and mortuary services to the acute hospital and also to General Practice. We are a small, friendly, progressive lab that is part of the national LIMS Project. We are currently sourcing funding by digital pathology. Our recent service improvements include the establishment of a Mohs micrographic surgery clinic and Rapid Onsite Evaluation (ROSE) for EBUS samples.
