The successful candidate will support the practice nursing and administrative teams in the delivery of clinical and administrative services, working as part of the practice multi-disciplinary team, delivering care within their scope of practice to the entitled patient population. The Healthcare Assistant will deliver and assist clinical staff in the provision of treatment, preventative care, health promotion and patient education whilst also supporting the administrative team on an as-required basis. About us

Aylesford Medical Centre is situated in the heart of the Royal British Legion Village in Aylesford, close to junction 5 of the M20 motorway. We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and professional healthcare assistant to join our friendly and ever expanding team. Job responsibilities

Thefollowing are the core responsibilities of the Healthcare Assistant. There maybe, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependentupon factors such as workload and staffing levels: Supportthe practice nurse with health promotion programmes Carryout baseline observations such as pulse oximitery, blood pressure, temperatureand pulse rate, recording findings accurately Facilitateroutine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly Undertakewound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required Supportthe practice nurse with the management of chronic disease clinics Carryout BMI checks as directed Activelyparticipate in reaching Practice QOF targets Whentrained, undertake venepuncture Whentrained, administer flu vaccinations Whentrained, carry out ear irrigation under the supervision of the practice nurse Carryout ECGs as requested Ensurespecimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation Providesupport during minor operations as required Ensureall clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session Ensurefridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with extant guidance Ensureclinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced inaccordance with the organisations IPC policy Deliveropportunistic health promotion where appropriate Participatein practice audit as directed by the audit lead Participatein local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care Supportand participate in shared learning within the organisation Completeopening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rota Person Specification

Experience

Experience of working in primary care Experience of working in a GP practice Qualifications

General education to GCSE level or equivalent care certificate or willing to work towards NVQ level 3 in care Disclosure and Barring Service Check
