In this position, you will play a critical role in delivering an efficient and comprehensive procurement service to the Trust, ensuring compliance with all legal and departmental standards, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), MHRA Rules for Pharmaceutical Distributors, COSHH regulations, Lifting and Handling guidelines, and Trust Policies and Procedures. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in pharmacy procurement, excellent communication abilities, strong initiative, and the capacity to work accurately under tight deadlines. Experience in change management, audit processes, and data analysis is highly desirable, along with proficiency in IT systems, particularly JAC/CMM and Excel. The Procurement Technician will play a crucial role in the efficient procurement, storage, and management of pharmaceutical products across Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. Key responsibilities include: Oversee the purchasing of pharmaceuticals to ensure a reliable and compliant supply chain. Support training for new staff, ensuring they are well-prepared for procurement-related roles. Liaise with suppliers to maintain effective relationships, track orders, and resolve any supply issues promptly. Monitor inventory levels, coordinate restocking, and ensure accurate stock records are maintained. Assist in managing the top-up service in collaboration with distribution staff, ensuring wards and departments have sufficient stock. Maintain regulatory documentation and investigate any stock discrepancies for compliance. Provide backup support for distribution when required, facilitating seamless operation across pharmacy services. The role requires strong organisational and communication skills, with a focus on enhancing the efficiency and reliability of pharmaceutical procurement processes. Job responsibilities

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

NVQ3 in Pharmaceutical Services or Equivalent Registration with GPHC as a technician ACPT accredited or willing to work towards qualification. NVQ assessor course or equivalent EXPERIENCE

2 years qualified experience in hospital pharmacy Experience of Pharmacy Procurement and Distribution Training of Pharmacy Staff Staff supervision/management SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge of Good Distribution Practice (GDP) Ability to work in an organised and calm fashion in a busy environment. Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner (verbal and written) To have a positive attitude and be able to recognise and communicate need for change and be able to participate in change management processes Ability to work to Standard Operating Procedures accurately and in a timely fashion To have a clean and tidy appearance Be able to work on own initiative and be capable of making decisions. Be able to delegate and co-ordinate other staff To be able to recognise limits of own competencies and when to refer and seek advice from colleagues. To be forward thinking and be able to develop new ideas The ability to identify the need for SOP's and assist in the preparation and implementation of new ones. To be prepared to develop a good understanding of management issues and be prepared to attend any training sessions necessary for development SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES
