Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist Paediatrics

·
Full time
To develop a new role within our established paediatric psychology service as the embedded psychologist working on a busy general paediatric ward in central London. The postholder will offer direct intervention for babies, children, parents and families during their inpatient stay and support the provision of psychologically informed care throughout the ward through collaborative working, staff consultation and training.

We are looking for practitioners who can work confidently and adaptively in a demanding setting alongside multidisciplinary teams and are passionate about leading the development of psychological therapy pathways within this part of our service.

To develop the pathway together with the established ward MDT and psychology colleagues to provide holistic care including thinking about the psychological needs of the child and family in all aspects of their health journey. To engage and work collaboratively with children, their families and professional networks to assess and offer individualised treatment of psychological needs related to their health condition and reason for admission to hospital. To liaise with community services where needed to meet needs beyond the remit of the service including the CNWL CAMHS crisis team for CYP admitted to the paediatric ward in relation to mental health needs.

The paediatric psychology service at Imperial and across CNWL works collaboratively with children and their networks harnessing their strengths and resources to overcome the challenges that health and social inequalities can bring.

We encourage creative ways of working which place the young person's identity and development at the heart of their health journey. We value multidisciplinary working and the enhanced outcomes achieved when professionals work together to support families' goals.

The successful applicant may have contact with patients or service users. As an NHS Trust we strongly encourage and support vaccination as this remains the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and of course patients and service users when working in our healthcare settings.

A detailed job description and full list of main responsibilities is provided in the attached documents.
