An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a Highly Specialist Mental Health Practitioner to join our new community Forensic Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (FCAMHS). Consideration will be given to applicants who want to work either full time or part time. The FCAMHS community team base is in Peterborough and there is also a second base in Cambridge. The service is regional covering the East of England region (Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire). This dynamic service works in partnership with wider agencies to ensure integrated care provision across health, social care, education and youth justice to optimise the outcomes for children/young people who present with high risk and/or concerning behaviours and where mental health and/or neurodevelopmental concerns are suspected. Main duties of the job
The job will involve a mixture of advice and consultation and direct assessment work. The post holder will be part of a multi-disciplinary team and will have the support of a Senior Leadership Team that includes a Consultant Psychologist. There will also be the opportunity to network and be professionally supported by others of the same discipline locally, regionally and nationally. Job responsibilities
Please refer to the attached job description and person specification for full details of responsibilities Provide specialist advice and consultation to other professionals working with and delivering interventions to children/young people with diagnosed or suspected mental health/neurodevelopmental/learning issues. Provide highly skilled assessment of mental health and risk and, on occasion, intervention to children/young people with diagnosed or suspected mental health/neurodevelopmental/learning issues. Conduct specialist structured forensic and neurodevelopmental assessments as per training and skill base. Advise and contribute to decisions/plans for high risk child/young person who are vulnerable to and at risk of neglect, physical, sexual or emotional harm. Support the safe and effective transitions for children/young people between the community and custodial/welfare secure settings to ensure the appropriate services are available and coordinated. Education / Qualifications
Registered RMN, Social Worker or equivalent. Continuing professional registration with associated governing body. Educated to degree level or equivalent plus have a relevant Masters degree (or be willing to work towards one). Evidence of continuing professional development. Experience
Advanced clinical skills in acute and complex mental health presentations and risk management. Experience of clinical supervision of others. Formal leadership skills and experience. Experience of working with children/young people in an NHS setting. Experience of working with 'hard to reach' patient populations. Working knowledge or experience of criminal justice settings/secure settings. Skills & Abilities
Strong influencing and negotiation skills with experience of facilitating change by collaborating with stakeholders. Highly developed interpersonal skills for delivering key messages to a range of stakeholders. Ability to work flexibly to the needs of the locality, service, patients, families and carers. Evidence of contribution to policy, protocols and patient care pathway development. Experience of teaching, facilitating and formal training course planning/management. Salary: £53,755 to £60,504 a year per annum pro rata
