An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join the Neurodevelopment (ND) Team, focusing on the assessment of children & young people with neurodiverse needs. The role involves working within a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive assessments & support for children across the 0-18 age range, with an emphasis on understanding how neurodiversity impacts occupational performance.

Key responsibilities include: Contributing expert clinical formulations in MDT meetings, considering the complex factors affecting occupational performance, such as developmental, environmental, and social influences. Identifying how these factors impact children's ability to engage in daily tasks, helping to inform holistic care plans. Supervising other Occupational Therapists within the team, providing clinical oversight, and fostering professional development. Collaborating with Strategic Clinical Lead Occupational Therapists to shape the future direction of occupational therapy services, including developing a tiered intervention model for neurodevelopmental needs.

The successful candidate should have experience with the ND Profiling Tool, the ND assessment process, and a strong understanding of the Putting Things Right complaints procedure. Experience in supervision, team building, compassionate leadership, and supporting change is essential for success in this role.

Main duties of the job: To provide a highly specialist occupational therapy service to young people and their families and input into the Single Point of Access for Children's Emotional (SPACE) Wellbeing Panel Neurodevelopmental (ND) 0 - 18 Service. Offer comprehensive assessments, evidence-based interventions, and treatment packages to children and young people who have been referred into the SPACE Wellbeing ND service. Provide highly specialist occupational therapy with both individuals and family groups with clinical autonomy drawing on a range of models based on clinical needs. Practice in an inclusive and empathetic manner, carefully considering each person's developmental stage and emotional well-being, and adopting a needs-led approach to both individual care and broader systemic support.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

This is a fixed-term post for 12 months to cover the needs of the service.

Person Specification: Education: Essential: OT degree or diploma Masters level study (CQFW level 7) - at least 3 modules (@20/30 credits each) from Research OT practice Practice modules linked to clinical area Leadership Introduction to leadership and management training Member of HCPC

Desirable: Member of relevant COT Specialist Section.

Experience: Essential: Extensive experience in working within the specialist area related to the post. Significant experience working at Senior OT level Significant experience of supervising less experienced OTs

Desirable: Operational responsibility for specific area Leading the development of local clinical guidelines

Aptitude & Abilities: Essential: Ability to assess, plan and implement highly specialised treatment and advice in the specialist area related to the post. Able to analyse and reflect on clinical practice and use this to shape future practice Negotiation and problem-solving skills utilised within OT and wider MDT teams

Desirable: Implementation of national initiatives affecting OT

Knowledge: Essential: Specialist knowledge of assessment and intervention for area of clinical responsibility. Knowledge and understanding of current agenda and drivers for health and social care policies including legislation. Detailed knowledge and application of principles of clinical governance and risk management.

Values: Essential: Able to motivate, support, and mentor other OT staff to help develop their practice Commitment to developing further leadership/clinical skills
