Job summary The Portsmouth Integrated Learning Disability Service are looking for a Highly Specialist Speech & Language Therapist to join their dynamic team. We are committed to finding creative ways of providing timely, locally delivered, high quality and effective interventions that maximise the wellbeing and support for people within their home. You will be joining an 'Outstanding' (rated with CQC) friendly and supportive multidisciplinary team dedicated to developing and providing a high-quality service. You will work as an active member of a team, contributing expertise within your specialist area to develop the service whilst also providing clinical skills of assessment and interventions. Contributing to the management of a team caseload of clients with complex needs, you will provide consultation, specialist assessments, recommendations and interventions as appropriate to your role. As an enthusiastic and well-motivated professional, you will manage a clinical caseload involving assessment, intervention and co-ordination of services. The post holder will be responsible for leading, shaping and developing SLT within the service by demonstrating clinical excellence, promoting a culture of evidence-based practice and person-centred care. Main duties of the job The role will work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams and delivery of SLT assessment, treatment and intervention through direct, indirect and consultative models. The post holder will have significant postgraduate experience working with people with a learning disability as well as an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the communication and swallowing needs of this population. You will need to have excellent communication skills and to be able to quickly gain good rapport with people from a range of backgrounds. Good organisational skills and clinical assessment/problem solving skills are also required. Collaborative working with a range of professionals is an important part of this post and it is essential you can work as part of multi-disciplinary teams.
