Are you an experienced Speech and Language Therapist with an interest in Early years intervention and prevention? Do you have demonstrable leadership skills? We are looking for an individual with passion and enthusiasm and well-developed communication and negotiation skills to work in partnership with Swansea Local Authority and the wider Flying Start Team. You will lead and provide clinical oversight to an established team and will be responsible for the delivery of the Speech Language and Communication element of the Flying Start programme in line with the conditions set by the Children and Communities Grant funding of Flying Start. This will include data monitoring and the quarterly reporting of activity and outcomes. You will also be part of the wider supportive Swansea Bay Paediatric Speech & Language Therapy team with access to an established network of other Highly Specialist SLTs. There are CPD opportunities to contribute to early years service development, training, research, audit and access to regular supervision. Operational responsibilities will include line management of Registrant and non-registrant professionals, clinical and professional supervision and oversight of the Flying Start Speech and Language service for Swansea. You will be responsible for integrating the delivery of universal and targeted Speech & Language training across the FS Early Years workforce and support targeted screening and intervention to children who are identified with SLCN needs where appropriate. You will provide Speech, Language and Communication support and advice to Parents and Childcare staff working with children with emerging ALN and SLC needs in liaison with other professionals from the multi-agency team including specialist teachers and Early Years practitioners. You will need to be innovative and creative in promoting key messages in line with the WG Talk with Me campaign to wide audiences including parents and other key staff. You will also be a key member of several decision-making panels and intra-agency forums, and so high professionalism is a key aspect of this role. We believe staff are our best asset and we want you to be happy and confident about starting your career here in Swansea Bay University Health Board. As one of the biggest healthcare groups in the UK, we can offer a wealth of professional training and development opportunities in an innovative, forward-thinking organisation. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome.
