We are seeking an experienced Expert Dissection Lead to join a prestigious medical diagnostics company. This company is at the forefront of healthcare diagnostics, delivering a wide range of innovative solutions across laboratory medicine, pathology, imaging, and more. As an Expert Dissection Lead, you will play a crucial role in the dissection and sampling of histological specimens and contribute to the development of staff and practices within the laboratory.
Key Responsibilities:
Dissect and sample specimens across categories A, B, C, and a range of category D specimens
Collaborate with medical staff in specimen preparation, dissection, and sampling
Provide histological dissection training to Biomedical Scientists, medical staff, and students
Participate in the collection of fresh tissue for research and external trials
Lead the training of staff on complex histological dissection techniques
Contribute to the development and evaluation of research portfolios
Supervise and mentor laboratory staff, demonstrating leadership and management skills
Evaluate and improve laboratory practices and workflows in collaboration with other teams
Ensure compliance with ISO 15189 accreditation and laboratory standards
Maintain accurate records and ensure quality control in all dissection procedures
Requirements:
Relevant BSc Degree in a scientific discipline
FIBMS (Histopathology) or MSc in Histopathology, or equivalent qualification
HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist
IBMS Diploma of Expert Practice in Histological Dissection or significant relevant experience
Advanced knowledge of histology techniques, including tissue fixation, processing, and decalcification
Substantial post-registration experience in an accredited histology laboratory
Practical experience with dissection of category D & E specimens
Experience in staff training and leadership in complex histological procedures
Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, including COSHH and fire safety
Excellent communication, time management, and analytical skills
