Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) Location: Mainstream Primary School, Barnet Position: Full-Time, Permanent About the Role: We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our dynamic team at a well-established primary school in Barnet . This is a full-time, permanent position, offering the opportunity to support students across key stages and contribute to creating a positive, inclusive learning environment for all pupils. As an HLTA, you will work closely with the class teachers to deliver high-quality lessons, support small groups, and provide one-on-one assistance to pupils who need additional help. Your role will be integral in supporting the academic and social development of the students, ensuring that they thrive and reach their full potential. Key Responsibilities: Assist the class teacher in delivering lessons across a range of subjects, ensuring that all students are engaged and supported. Provide small group and one-to-one support for students, including those with special educational needs, to help them reach their academic targets. Help manage classroom behaviour and foster a positive, respectful learning atmosphere. Work closely with teachers to plan and deliver differentiated lessons and activities. Support students with their social and emotional development , helping them build confidence and independence. Monitor and track the progress of students, providing feedback to the class teacher. Assist with the preparation of classroom resources, displays, and learning materials. Uphold the school’s policies and procedures, including safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Work collaboratively with the wider school team, including other teaching assistants and support staff, to ensure the smooth running of the school day. Essential Criteria: HLTA qualification or equivalent experience in a teaching assistant role. Proven experience working in a primary school setting, ideally within mainstream education. Strong knowledge of the primary curriculum , with the ability to differentiate lessons and support diverse learning needs. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents. A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to working with children. Good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. A commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment where every child can succeed. Desirable Criteria: Experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN). A knowledge of behavior management strategies to support students' development.
