Do you want an employer who will support you to have the career that is right for you? Who we are: NCC operates 6 children's homes including a national secure children centre with education. Overall, the service employs approximately 230 care staff and 30 support services staff across the 6 sites. Our homes accommodate 29 young people aged 6 - 17, our main aim is to offer an exceptional family focused caring environment where children and young people can feel safe and thrive to meet their full potential. The service is inspected by Ofsted on a yearly basis. Currently Barndale Short Break Service is rated as Good. It is crucial that everyone in our team is committed and motivated to meeting the needs of our young people and have high aspirations for each and every young person we live and work with. We are looking for an experienced, dynamic and highly motivated manager to join our residential services, as a manager of our short break home providing much needed care and support for children and young people with disabilities, and their families. You will join an established, dynamic and dedicated team of children's homes managers that enables peer support, opportunities to share good practice and promotes a consistent approach to caring for our children in care. You will be supported by a dedicated team of psychologists, speech and language therapists and other dedicated mental health practitioners who will support you to provide high quality short breaks that promote children and young people's wellbeing. You will have an excellent understanding of the needs of children and young people with disabilities and their families and be committed to making a lasting difference to their lives helping them to remain living at home, continue to access education, the local community and achieve their full potential. You will be a confident and creative person whose mentoring and leadership skills will enable the children and young people you are providing short breaks for to have positive life experiences, grow, develop and thrive. You will understand the needs of children and young people with disabilities and their families and will work to provide support as flexibly as possible, liaising with school and health services as well as building and developing close links with families. You will be experienced at building a resilient and successful staff team through reflective supervision and skillful leadership. This is a busy yet rewarding role so outstanding organisational skills, an eye for high quality case recording and the ability to work collaboratively with other professionals including social workers, education and health colleagues is essential. Minimum Requirements: The post requires experience of working in residential care and a recognised social work qualification or a qualification equivalent to the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare. As the Children's Home Manager, you will be required to register with Ofsted as the Registered Manager, ensure the home complies with its regulatory requirements and will be responsible for ensuring that the home is inspection ready. The role: Barndale Short Break Service provides a short break resource for a mixed gender of up to six young people during any weekend; in total we can provide a service for over twenty children. The criteria for admission is: young people are assessed as having a moderate to severe learning disability, be aged between 6 and 17 on admission and reside within the county of Northumberland. Your personal qualities and life experience will help us create an environment of reflection, challenge, personal attention and specialist help. Your talents will help young people develop the values, skills, knowledge, self-control and direction that will enable them to fulfill their potential. You will work under the direction of the Children's Services Manager Residential and Support Service to ensure quality, safe and effective care of each young person.
