Home Nursing Assistant (Fixed term for 3 months) 30 hours per week Salary – £23312 pro-rata per year St Catherine’s Hospice has been thrilled to develop a new Hospice at Home service in Central Lancashire. Further investment has allowed us to expand the St Catherine’s At Home pilot project, to enhance provision of specialist palliative and end-of-life care to local people affected by life-shortening illnesses. The service directly supports discharges from hospital and ensures rapid access to home care, helping to relieve pressure on the NHS and help more people to achieve their wishes to die at home. The role of the Home Nursing Assistant will involve providing hands-on care and emotional support to patients and their families under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Health and social care qualifications are not essential, as substantial training will be provided by St Catherine’s. Successful candidates will work alongside the Home Nursing Assistant colleague during each home visit, and will report to a qualified team leader. The Home Nursing Assistant will provide assistance with personal hygiene, mouth care, pressure area care and positioning, whilst the district nursing team will remain responsible for the administration and management of medications and other clinical needs. The St Catherine’s at Home service also strives to provide practical and psychological support to family members and others involved in a person’s care. The aim is to allow loved ones to continue their input, and help families to prioritize the things that are most important to them in the precious time they have left together. This is an exciting and rare opportunity to work for a highly-regarded and well-known charity, carrying out a rewarding and worthwhile job which will make a meaningful difference to local people. We are seeking a caring, compassionate and committed person to join our team, and look forward to receiving your application. For informal enquiries, please contact Melissa Walsh, Team Leader on 01772 629171. The closing date is 5th February 2025 at 5pm. The proposed interview dates are the 12th and 13th February 2025. Please note, if you have not heard about your application within two weeks of the closing date then on this occasion your application has not been successful. To apply for this opportunity, please submit your CV and a covering letter as to why you should be considered for this position to recruitment@stcatherines.co.uk
