Hospice Inpatient Manager (Clinical Lead)

The Band 7 Hospice Inpatient Manager (Clinical Lead) role provides Senior Clinical Leadership for the Inpatient Hospice Care Team. This role will lead, and have responsibility for clinical delivery of safe, effective and high-quality care through teaching, training, auditing, reviewing, change management, supporting and coaching. This role is full time (37.5 hrs per week) however minimum 30hrs per week would be considered, to be worked flexibly across a minimum 4 days. Main duties of the job

We are looking for an experienced nurse who has the knowledge, skill and vision to take the lead and responsibility for safe, effective, and high-quality care within the inpatient care team. This is a senior clinical role in which the post holder will ensure we continue to grow and improve, whilst always maintaining safe and effective at the centre of all we do. CQC compliance is a key aspect of this role. Job responsibilities

Main Purpose of Job To take the clinical lead role and responsibility for the 24/7 clinical delivery of safe and effective care within the hospice, to ensure that all children, young people and their families receive high quality and effective evidence based palliative and end of life care. The post holder will have a shared role with the Hospice Inpatient Manager to lead, manage and develop the in-house care team acting as a positive role model to foster and embed a motivating and positive culture in line with the organisational values. The post holder reports to and is accountable to the Head of Hospice Care, Quality & Governance. Leadership and line management as required for the service. Member of the wider clinical leadership team. The post holder will work collaboratively with the Head of Hospice Care, Quality & Governance, Hospice Inpatient Manager, Quality & Governance Lead Nurse, Practice Education Team and Hospice Lead Nurses to ensure the delivery of a safe, effective and high quality service to all children and families. Significant post registration experience in a relevant paediatric environment. Significant clinical experience of children's Hospice or similar environment. Proven experience of managing end of life and neonatal care. Experience in complex, palliative, or end of life care. Experience of managing and motivating a multi-disciplinary team. Experience of recruitment and service development. Significant experience of managing and coordinating care delivery. Understanding of specific needs of children/young people with life limiting/threatening conditions. Experience of service development. Experience of clinical audit. Knowledge of the requirements of the CQC and other regulatory requirements. Knowledge and understanding of clinical governance. Proven ability to develop clinical policies and procedures (SOPs). Skills and Abilities

Competent in all core and advanced hospice clinical competencies. Effective advanced communication skills. Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise and delegate workload. High level of personal responsibility and accountability. Demonstrable leadership ability. Demonstrate resilience and ability to work under pressure. Excellent interpersonal skills. Significant staff management experience of both individuals and multi-disciplinary teams. Relate well with children, families and other healthcare professionals. Proven experience of assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care. Experience of training and development. Coaching and mentoring skills. Ability to problem solve. Ability to build good and internal relationships. Demonstrate ability to work collaboratively and contribute at a senior level to operational and strategic development of care services. Qualifications

RSCN, RN (Child), RGN & RNLD with relevant paediatric experience. Educated to degree level. Evidence of continued professional development. ENB 998, NM 3.157 or equivalent. Evidence of complying with NMC Revalidation requirements. Clinical supervisor. Advanced communication skills training. Non-medical prescribing V300 (or agreement to undertake).
