Preferred Qualifications: Hospital-specific experience preferred Internal Medicine experience preferred PRN Shift Information: 4 to 6 calls per month For in-house calls, must be willing to stay in the hospital 12 hour day shifts - 7 A to 7 P 12 hour evening shifts - 7 P to 7 A Mainly nights and weekend coverage needed Agreeable to maintain 4 shifts in a row on weekends, if necessary ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Hospital coverage of inpatients for planned ortho surgery patients Works alongside hospitalist physicians and advanced practice clinicians as part of a team to provide thorough inpatient care including history, physical, imaging/laboratory orders, treatment, consultations, and discharge planning Extensive patient education on disease processes, treatment, and follow-up recommendations Observation/inpatient admissions, day-to-day rounding, post-operative medical management, consults for medical management, discharge planning Daily interaction with surgeons, specialists, nurses, social workers, therapists, pharmacists, and other treatment team members Attends CME lectures, ongoing education presentations, and staff meetings Other duties and responsibilities as needed SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to communicate effectively with staff, peers, physicians, and the public. Ability to speak and understand English fluently. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Light physical effort; some standing, walking, bending, reaching, stooping; manual dexterity to operate keyboard and other equipment.
