Hourly Paid Lecturer in Teacher Training

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, inspiring teacher to join the highly performing teacher training team at West Herts College.

Teacher training programmes are delivered at FE and HE level, including Level 3 programmes for new and aspiring teachers, and the Level 5 Diploma for permanent teachers in the FE and skills sector.

The role involves delivery of the teacher training curriculum to meet teacher professional standards and assessed observations of teaching practice.

The successful candidate will be a high performing, experienced teacher that meets college expectations, with relevant qualifications at degree level 6. The candidate will conduct formal observations and feedback in line with the awarding body and WHCG policies and assess degree level work. You will have a good understanding of pedagogical approaches relevant to teaching in Further Education.

You will also be able to promote, support and embed English, Maths and wider skills within planning and delivery of teaching, and support teaching staff in doing this with their learners. You should be committed to providing prompt, detailed assessment of student work and providing one-to-one feedback and target setting for trainees, both in terms of their assignment work and assessed observations.

You'll have the full support of a dynamic team and opportunities to bring your ideas to the role. Training and development are at the heart of everything we do so you'll be actively encouraged to upskill.

We have a free on-site gym at our Watford Campus, and you can access a wide range of discounts and benefits including a cycle-to-work scheme, free on-site parking, and generous pension.

The closing date for applications is Sunday 26th January 2025.
