We have an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled and qualified Temporary Housing Manager to join a leading local authority in London.
In this role, you will lead and manage a team of housing officers and assistants, delivering a cost-effective neighbourhood service that provides high-quality housing advice, fosters stakeholder engagement, contributes to safe and sustainable communities, and enhances resident satisfaction and quality of life.
Key Duties:
- Business Planning and Budgeting: Implement and contribute to the development of the neighbourhood services business plan and budget.
- Team Engagement: Ensure team members understand their contribution to corporate targets, promoting engagement through personal example, recognition, and communication.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work in partnership with stakeholders and local communities to provide integrated services within a neighbourhood management framework.
- Tenancy Management: Ensure adherence to tenancy terms and conditions to minimize nuisance and increase resident satisfaction.
- Tenancy Checks: Plan and oversee a programme of tenancy checks to eliminate breaches, reduce illegal occupancy, and improve housing stock use and resident satisfaction.
- Estate Inspections: Ensure quarterly estate inspections with representatives from repairs and estate services, working with tenant and resident associations to maintain high standards and improve estates.
- Fire Risk Assessments: Ensure team members action recommendations from fire risk assessments.
Essential Requirements:
- Qualifications: Degree level education or equivalent training in housing (e.g., NVQ Level 4) or sufficient experience.
- Experience: Proven experience managing neighbourhood services in a social housing environment, with a track record of effective team management and service performance.
- Change Management: Successful experience in managing change and continuous improvement to enhance organisational performance, reduce costs, and deliver customer satisfaction.
- Legislative Knowledge: Strong understanding of housing legislation, regulatory frameworks, and case law.
- Housing Management: Knowledge of housing management, particularly voids and lettings services within a social housing context.
- Commitment to Equality: Understanding and commitment to equalities legislation and organisational policies.
- Team Leadership: Ability to attract, retain, motivate, and coach team members.
- Project Management: Skilled in planning and managing projects, including risk, cost, and time management.
- Data Analysis: Competent in analysing and interpreting data to plan resources effectively.
- IT Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation and report writing.
- Relationship Building: Ability to influence and build relationships effectively.
