Location: Croydon Council, Housing Directorate Grade: Grade 9 Type: Full Time, Permanent Hours: 36 hours per week Reports to: Housing Services Team Manager Are you passionate about delivering high-quality housing services that truly make a difference to the lives of residents? Croydon Council is seeking a number of dedicated Housing Officers to manage and support our tenants, ensuring they have a safe and secure home in which they can thrive. Role Overview

You will act as the main point of contact for residents, providing advice, support, and enforcement of tenancy agreements. Your role is pivotal in improving resident satisfaction, building trust, and ensuring that residents have a home they are happy in.

Key Responsibilities

Resident Engagement: Visit all new tenants in their homes to explain tenancy conditions and identify any vulnerabilities or additional needs. Ensure regular communication and engagement with residents through estate inspections, customer surgeries, and home visits. Tenancy Management: Manage a variety of tenancy-related matters, including succession, assignment, discretionary re-housing, and management transfers. Take action on issues such as anti-social behaviour, illegal occupation, and breaches of tenancy agreements. Estate Management: Conduct regular estate inspections and follow up on issues affecting residents. Identify and recommend estate improvements and work with internal teams to ensure a coordinated approach to estate management. Supporting Vulnerable Tenants: Work closely with vulnerable tenants to ensure their needs are met, making referrals to support services as necessary. Legal and Enforcement Actions: Prepare and serve legal notices, including Notices Seeking Possession and Notices to Quit. Prepare cases for court, draft witness statements, and represent the council in legal proceedings.

About You

Experience: Proven experience in managing complex tenancy issues within a social housing context. Skills: Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with a commitment to addressing resident concerns. Knowledge: Thorough understanding of housing and anti-social behaviour legislation. Attributes: A proactive, adaptable, and resilient individual who is committed to continuous improvement and delivering positive outcomes for residents.
