NRL are currently recruiting for a HSE officer to work on behalf of one of our clients in the Bolton area of Manchester.
Expectations within the role:
Advise and assist all Managers as required to ensure they understand and implement all required SHE policies and procedures. Carry out regular occupational health (e.g., noise, welding fumes), safety (e.g., lighting), COSHH, and fire safety/prevention surveys in line with current legislative requirements. Undertake regular surveillance audits in manufacturing areas. Ensure all new employees undertake appropriate health & safety/environmental induction training and keep appropriate records. Monitor and update the company training records to ensure all employees are suitably qualified for the roles undertaken. Coordinate communications regarding safety, health, environmental, and/or quality matters, including carrying out Tool Box Talks or training sessions as required. Implement any actions identified via external audits/business reviews in line with agreed timescales. Report to the Senior SHEQ Manager on a regular and timely basis any SHE trends, issues, or potential risks to the business. Support company requirements to maintain or obtain appropriate accreditations/awards. Keep up to date with all changes in legislation and best practices and advise the management team of any recommended changes to operating procedures to keep in line with industry trends. Work as part of the wider SHEQ department to support all departments with any initiatives, audits, policy reviews, best practice recommendations, etc. Support the development and improvement of Health & Safety practices. Any other ad hoc duties as may be required and as are commensurate with the grade of the post.
You will need:
Formal Health & Safety / Environmental qualification. Communication skills across all levels of internal and external business. Ability to produce and present a variety of information to a variety of stakeholders and IT skills (incl. Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Ability to think and work independently (proactively set and monitor workloads and targets). Previous experience in a similar role (ideally 2+ years). Internal Auditor experience.
