ABJ7158 A new position for an experienced Process Instrument Engineer has arisen for a leading engineering services company. This is urgently required due to upcoming projects. Many of the clients they work with are in the energy/chemicals area, focusing on safety solutions that satisfy the critical nature of our customers' plant sites and processes. Additionally, as an instrument and control engineer, you will be involved in consulting in the field of systems engineering, general system design, and panel build services. The role is mainly office-based with teamwork pivotal to the success of the company. There will be an occasional requirement to attend meetings and provide pre/post commissioning support for systems at our customers' sites (UK based). As a Process Instrumentation Engineer, you will: Manage instrumentation design and consultancy projects from point of sale through to site commissioning. The project management tasks, with importance placed heavily on reading and interpreting technical documents to include industry standards, client specifications, P&IDs, and logic diagrams. Apply problem-solving and analytical techniques to plan and carry out appropriate system testing. Responsibilities
Ensuring that standards, specifications and guidelines pertaining to the Instrumentation and Control discipline conform to the requirements of relevant industry legislation, standards, and guidance. Effective prioritisation of operations support, own projects, and tasks to ensure on-time delivery and within budget. General control of project work, including look-ahead planning, control of project budgets and schedules, change control, estimating activities, project document management, and progress reporting. Review of clients' specifications and other national/international standards to ensure project compliance. Development of functional requirements specifications for control systems, SIS, F&G, and instrumentation. Participation in design reviews, including HAZOP/LOPA, hazardous area considerations, etc. Specification of a wide range of process instrumentation. Performing calculations for intrinsic safety, SIL verification, flow meter sizing, valve sizing, thermowells, etc. Development of control and instrumentation content of piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs). Interfacing with client engineering representatives. Skills and Experience
HNC/HND/Degree qualification in a relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent level of engineering experience in a similar role is essential. Several years of experience within an instrumentation role within the process industries. The ability to conduct site surveys and brownfield verification of existing control systems and field instrumentation is required. Familiarity with ATEX/IECEx equipment and an awareness of the National & International Standards for Hazardous Area Equipment is required. Experience in the planning and delivery of technical projects. Current UK driving license is essential. TUV Functional Safety certification would be preferred. Confident user of MS365 productivity tools (i.e. MS Word, Excel, etc.). Good working knowledge of the Functional Safety Standards BS EN 61508/61511.
