We are delighted to be working with the Family Building Society, a highly successful and customer-focused Mutual, to recruit an experienced Human Resources Director to partner the Board and wider Executive Team to provide people-focused solutions and perspectives to business challenges.

You will be leading the HR, Learning & Development, and Facilities teams and design, develop and implement the People Strategy for the Society which supports its strategic goals, and create and nurture a high-performing, inclusive culture resulting in an excellent Employer Brand.

It will be your responsibility to engage and influence Board Members to shape People decisions and outcomes and embrace the full HR remit which will be delivered through leading the wider People Team. You will manage and lead the team (currently a team of 11 and overall circa. 200 FTE) to enhance the colleague experience for all employees, by advising on best practice and regulatory matters while driving the people agenda. You will be a self-starter with the desire and ability to have an impact across all areas of the business and to nurture a real performance culture. To achieve this, you will feel comfortable challenging the accepted norm using your exceptional powers of persuasion. In return, you will be supported by an outstanding Executive team allowing you to be the voice for People at the most senior level.

Strategic HR

– Own the People Strategy to ensure it aligns with the Employer Brand strategic goal. Design and lead on people-focused projects, embedding a performance culture. Ensure effective organizational design and development.

Operational HR

– Leading and coaching the talented HR team, ensuring it is empowered and supported to perform to its full potential. Manage the full employee life cycle including Recruitment, Remuneration & Reward, HR Policies, Talent Management & Development, Diversity & Inclusion, and Succession Planning.

Learning & Development

– Create a culture and framework where employees are encouraged to develop to their full potential. Identify people trends, using and developing People MI and advising and implementing recommended actions, including hybrid working. Facilitate Strategic Workforce Planning and anticipate future needs.

Executive

– Partner the CFO, CEO, and the wider Executive Team to provide people solutions to business challenges. Lead and champion the People agenda at both an Executive and Board level.

If all of the above makes you think they could be your next employer, all you need to apply is:

Proven ability to work at Executive / Board level with strong relationship-building skills.

Experience of working in financial services or a similar regulated industry.

People management and team building experience.

Ability to work on both an operational and strategic level.

Relevant knowledge of HR operational management processes and practices.

They currently have a hybrid working policy in place, based around purpose for being in the office rather than simply a ‘tick box’. However, as the Human Resources Director, there is regular office attendance expected of this role, likely 3+ days in the office a week. It is not a remote position, so you do need to live within commutable distance of Epsom.

In addition to the basic salary, you will receive a generous car allowance, Executive level bonus, and excellent benefits.

If you have the above experience and are looking for an employer who cares about their customers and the local community as well as its employees, then apply now.
