Location: Grantham

Job offered by: Grantham King's School

Working arrangement is negotiable but ideally 37 hours per week, 42 weeks per year.

Pay scale: GLEA Grade 8, Points 21-24 (currently £34,314 to £37,938 on full-time basis).

Our forward-looking prestigious school is seeking a dedicated and passionate professional to join our innovative team. With an illustrious history dating back to 1528, The King's School has been a cornerstone of the Grantham community for centuries.

Due to the retirement of our current HR Officer, we have an exciting opportunity for a highly organised, experienced and self-motivated HR professional to join our team from March 2025 or before. The post would suit a candidate with experience of working confidently at HR Officer level, ideally within the education sector. A demonstrable ability to manage all aspects of the employee life cycle whilst developing best practice in accordance with the latest employment law is essential.

The HR Officer provides comprehensive, operational HR support and administration across the school community whilst playing a critical role in ensuring that the school is compliant with all relevant regulations and statutory guidance relating to HR, including Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE).

This is an important role at the School and requires an individual who can demonstrate initiative and the ability to work independently, as well as part of a small team and reporting directly to the Head. Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and outstanding problem-solving skills are essential for this post. It is important that the candidate is professional, combined with a warm and approachable personality but is also resilient and calm under pressure. We are looking for someone who is able to work efficiently in a busy environment and can successfully prioritise their workload to meet deadlines. It is imperative that the successful candidate is comfortable with a high level of discretion and confidentiality.

If you are unsure what The King’s School is like but are considering applying, please contact the school for an informal telephone conversation or tour of the school to find out more.

The start date for this position is 1 March 2025 or before.

Closing date for applications: 9am Friday 17 January 2025.

To be considered for this role please complete an application in full through the TES website (Human Resources Officer, Lincolnshire - Tes Jobs). A full job description and person specification, along with additional information for candidates is available using the above link.

Whilst a closing date for applications has been set, we reserve the right to interview and appoint a suitable candidate prior. This being the case, we would encourage early applications for the post.

The King’s School is an equal opportunities employer and is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. It expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Successful candidates will be expected to follow school safeguarding procedures and promote the welfare of students.

Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers. As this post is considered a ‘regulated activity’, a check through the Disclosure and Barring Service, including the children’s barred list will be made. Shortlisted candidates should be aware that the school may conduct online searches as part of our due diligence process. Successful applicants must be familiar with and comply with policies and procedures relating to safeguarding, child protection and promoting the welfare of students.

The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are “spent” unless they are “protected” under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.

Please note that feedback will only be provided to candidates whose applications progress to the interview stage.
