This is a permanent full-time position as Purchasing Manager in our Scarborough location. You will be responsible for the overall purchasing of specific Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVAC) including recommendations, solutions, financial performance ensuring product resilient satisfaction. You will collaborate with the Tempco branch leads communicating new product development, energy efficient programs (private and government funded), manufacturer support services, training to Front Counter Customer Service and to Contractors. Hands-on experience is essential with HVAC jargon, products and overall HVAC understanding including areas such as: Furnace systems, air conditioning units, hydronic systems, ductless units, boiler systems, HRV (heat recovery ventilator), heat pumps, hot water heaters, tankless water heaters, fan coils, HRV / ERV Chillers Company Name:

Benefits include Extended Health Care and Dental, casual dress, on-site parking CORE RESPONSIBILITIES Develop, coordinate, and execute energy-efficient initiatives while inspecting and assessing their effectiveness. Manage the procurement of HVAC products and services, establishing purchasing policies, fostering relationships with suppliers, and ensuring product quality within budget constraints. Devise procurement strategies, supervise financial allocations, and identify top suppliers to meet industry standards. Analyze product pricing and quality, overseeing evaluations and providing recommendations. Lead contract negotiations with HVAC manufacturers and suppliers to secure favorable agreements. Establish quality standards for products and alternative solutions, handling warranty claims and quality control. Collaborate with HR on recruitment, training, staffing management, and conflict resolution. Meet with vendors to review products, negotiate contracts, and build a comprehensive supplier database. Ensure compliance with company policies on purchase orders and contracts, overseeing procurement across departments. Oversee budget planning, expense control, and daily operations while organizing inventory for six branches. Provide expert technical advice and recommendations on procurement needs. Create and manage program budgets, track expenses, report cost discrepancies, and reconcile finances quarterly and annually. Offer quarterly budget forecasts and projections for program and project needs. Establish objectives to understand branch and customer need and work closely with Branch Leads to determine the most cost-effective and sellable solutions, thereby increasing and sustaining customer loyalty. Ensure Company financial standards are maintained, including; but not limited to, profitability, productivity, payment schedules, subcontracts, terms, conditions, and accurate invoicing. Create and be responsible for personal compliance with all Company safety policies, procedures, and workplace safety issues in assuring a safe working environment for all. Verify that all required safety measures are identified. Create and direct company policies and procedures whereby employees can maintain and improve sales skills, HVAC systems awareness, and industry knowledge through self-study, product seminars, company-provided training, and self-improvement courses. Experience: Management: 3 Years’ experience of progressive experience in HVAC and temperature controls in high volume inventory, SKU’S (product codes, item numbers, part numbers) management specific to distribution, warehousing, logistics, technology, and department staffing. Commercial / Industrial HVAC: 2 years (Minimum): Knowledge dealing/working with heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems specifically designed for larger facilities, such as office buildings, factories, warehouses, or retail centers, high-capacity HVAC systems that are more robust and may use specialized equipment or techniques suited to large or heavily used spaces. Residential HVAC: 2 years (Minimum): Knowledge of installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC systems in single-family homes, apartment buildings, and other residential properties. Employment requirements (Qualifications & Requirements) A university degree or college diploma in disciplines like finance, accounting, business management, or HVAC/plumbing trades is required. Applicant should possess a relevant educational foundation, such as a degree or diploma in financial services, supply chain management (specializing in the managing and procuring of HVAC-related goods), business administration, or have HVAC industry experience, capable of strong negotiating strategies Applicant requires to be qualified in call centre operations Significant experience in positions such as procurement coordinator or specialist is essential. Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills. Self-motivated, extraverted, tactful, organized, results and goal-oriented professional. Driven by a desire to satisfy customers and provide a high level of customer relations skills. Computer literate with good working knowledge of office products, equipment, and procedures. Ability to communicate and sell services, as well as equipment and systems. Capable of successfully closing the sales agreement and provide follow-up to assure sustainably strong customer relationships. Excellent project management skills to properly plan the implementation of a project (timely availability of required materials, equipment, tools, and manpower). Great “people skills” to work closely with all departments within the Company; as well as with vendors, customers, subcontractors, etc. outside the Company. Physical & Mental Requirements: Must be able to lift 75 lbs. minimum / sit for long periods of time / type / hear / see / speak English clearly / operate business equipment. Must be able to read / write / spell & calculate. Must be able to understand and follow written instructions, communicate effectively orally and written, and must be able to listen effectively. Must possess prioritizing / organizational / multitasking and stress management skills.
