Role summary:

The Nuclear defence sector in the UK is vital for maintaining National security and strategic stability. Due to an exciting new project an opportunity has become available for an experienced Senior Project Engineer with experience of HVAC and process systems who will be responsible for the management of design during the pre-construction phase then the management of installation and testing during the construction phase.

Responsibilities: Lead multi-discipline engineering team. Support the Project Manager in management of Consultant and Contractors. Work closely with the Engineering and BIM design team. Identify project functional requirements and stakeholder requirements. Develop scope of work documentation for subcontract enquiry. Support project optioneering process. Review and accept/challenge Engineering drawings and documentation. Manage detailed design activities in accordance with ABL and client standards. Carry out technical assessment/approval of contractors work instruction/method statements/risk assessments. Provide technical supervision of construction activities to ensure compliance with design intent. Specify and provide technical supervision of commissioning and/or decommissioning. Liaise and consult with stakeholders throughout project life cycle to ensure efficient and effective project delivery. Comply with all Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality policies, procedures, work instructions and risk assessments and support the continuous improvement of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality on Site. Chair and minute review meetings with designers and contractors. Preparation and delivery of engineering presentations. Responding to technical queries and resolution of engineering problems. Line manage site managers and supervisors.

Project Interfaces: Framework contractors. ABL supervisors and site managers. Consultant design team. Site stakeholders. Original equipment manufacturers. Project management, commercial, cost, project controls, risk.

Qualifications: Qualification to degree level or HNC/HND with relevant experience in a relevant engineering discipline. Ideally building services and MEP. Chartered/Incorporated Engineer status (Ideally CIBSE or IMechE) or working towards. Formal H&S qualification E.g. IOSH managing safely and/or SMSTS.

Essential Skills and Experience: Project engineering of work packages, including site implementation/integration, within a highly regulated environment. Working fully autonomously and as part of a team. Compliance with legislation and standards in a highly regulated industry. Production of technical documentation e.g. technical reports, plant specifications, technical submissions. Experience coordinating the design and installation of HVAC services. Experience coordinating the design and installation of HVAC plantrooms. Experience coordinating the design and installation of MEP piped services and plant E.g. LTHW, BCWS, HWS, AGD. Liaison with a range of stakeholders. Experience in the delivery of H&S site inductions for site visitors.

Desirable Skills and Experience: Knowledge and experience of BMS systems and relevant control interfaces. Experience coordinating the design and application of heat pumps and VRF/AC systems. Knowledge and experience of commercial rainwater harvesting systems. Knowledge and experience of Prefabrication feasibility studies and MMC. Experience of highly regulated sign off and witnessing procedures. Nuclear safety case experience. Good awareness of EC&I interfaces with HVAC and MEP installations.
