Organisation: Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action Occupation: Natural Resource Management Reference: VG/50927847A/ The Hydrogeologist supports technical investigations into the state's groundwater resources, including assessing groundwater availability to inform planning and policy decisions. The position works with the Groundwater Assessment and Modelling team to provide specialist advice to inform policy on existing and emerging water related risks, including from the mining and extractive industries. The Hydrogeologist is a team player and strong communicator, collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders to influence policy development and decisions. The Hydrogeologist is an innovative critical thinker, providing support to and coordinating a technical review panel for works undertaken by the team. Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

Hydrogeological skills - an appropriate qualification in hydrogeology or earth sciences is desirable. A general understanding of groundwater systems or groundwater resource management and earth resource management (coal mining and extractives industries) is highly desirable. This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
