Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service are looking for an ICT Field Engineer to join our first-class team of Field Service Engineers. Working within our Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) department, you will join us on a full-time, permanent basis working 37 hours per week. This is a development role starting at Grade 5 which attracts an annual salary of £32,654.00 – £35,235.00, moving up to Grade 6 which attracts an annual salary of £37,035.00 – £39,513.00 (gross) per annum. Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service is the largest non-metropolitan Fire and Rescue Service in England, providing prevention, protection and response services across the counties of Devon and Somerset. Purpose of the ICT Field Engineer role: The post holder will undertake the installation, maintenance, support and configuration of all ICT Hardware within Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service. Key responsibilities of the ICT Field Engineer: Delivering, collecting, moving, installing, decommissioning and maintaining ICT equipment throughout the Service area, ensuring adherence to all relevant DSFRS Service Level Agreements (SLA’s). Maintenance support and installation of Command and Mobilising Systems, including fire station turn out equipment and MDTs. Achieving and maintaining technical expertise, enabling the installation, maintenance, support and configuration of ICT Hardware deployed within DSFRS. Acting as a mentor and coach in areas of expertise to propagate best practice in all areas of ICT Service delivery. Liaising with 3rd party suppliers of ICT hardware and services, ensuring measurement and adherence to agreed SLAs. Installation, configuration and maintenance of software. Maintaining a good working relationship with users throughout the Service. Installing cables, sockets, shelves, racks and trunking. Evaluation of new hardware and software. Assisting with system administration. Assisting with the staffing of the ICT Service Desk in exceptional circumstances. Maintaining accurate records of faults, configuration changes, work undertaken and interaction with customers and suppliers.
