(Alpha phase) Genetics is a rapidly expanding and innovative area of medicine, underpinning new treatments, technologies and approaches to managing patients with a wide variety including cancer, rare diseases and common conditions such as hypercholesterolaemia. Over time, genomics will inform more and more treatment decisions made by clinicians. Currently genomic test requests vary nationally. Whilst some regions have incorporated electronic test requests, predominantly most requesters rely on paper-based processes. The NHS England Genomics Unit (NHSE GU) have an ambition to introduce an electronic order management system. It is envisaged this system will include the transfer of data between the ordering organisation and the organisation where the lab is based via a ‘central broker’. This role is for a diligent ICT Lead Integration Engineer to join the North Thames Genomics service for a 12-month fixed term contract to support the Alpha phase of a National Genomic order management system. Main duties of the job

The post holder will report to the Head of Interoperability and will predominantly be responsible for: HL7, Intersystem Ensemble or Healthshare HealthConnect technical certification Analysis of code. Development and testing of Interfaces according to the HL7 and FHIR standards. Creating HL7 Transformations. Troubleshooting interface connectivity / Review HL7 interface and API alerts Requirements gathering and creating technical documentation. Liaising with suppliers / Third-party support. Significant and proven experience of managing interoperability service stakeholders, ensuring high-quality and timely communications to all consumers of the Trust’s integration services Acting as the Subject Matter Expert on interoperability standards, including FHIR, API and HL7. Responsible for liaising and troubleshooting with Integration Managed Service providers in the matter of operational issues and ongoing developments. Working for our organisation

Significant Knowledge of at least 2 of HL7 v2, FHIR, Intersystems Ensemble or HealthShare, Microsoft SQL Services. Experience in managing/technically resolving ICT Major Incidents in relation to business critical applications and services. Knowledge of Application Development Methodologies such as Waterfall, Lean, Agile/Scrum Experience of line-managing staff, including performing appraisals and managing personal development plans. Skills/Abilities

Demonstrate Senior Level communication skills Ability to engage, influence and persuade a broad range of individuals and professional groups at all levels of seniority Advanced written skills – able to produce detailed documentation relating to interfacing and developed interfaces. Willingness to train others and knowledge sharing Strong presentation and communications skills including the ability to represent GOSH/ICT at events and meetings internally and in public environments. Ability to present complex, sensitive or contentious information to a large group of staff or members of the public. Ability to assess complex interoperability issues within a health care environment and to identify solutions. Ability to audit, manage and monitor integration management system data in order to optimise system availability.
