Service Lead – Applications
is a key position within the Digital & ICT Service area. The role offers the opportunity to work within a dynamic ICT team, delivering the best experience for end-users. It provides a chance to take a professional lead in a defined complex area to achieve operational objectives or provide expert advice in a supporting function. By leading and managing improvement programs and projects, the role contributes to the continuous enhancement of services. The working environment is supportive, with minimal emotional demands and occasional physical demands such as driving to county-wide locations and extended hours when required for business needs. The team values continuous learning and staying updated with the latest technological developments. Key responsibilities Provide subject matter expertise, technical guidance and technical leadership within and across teams. Evaluate new products, upgrades and enhancements and create plans for implementation of such. Act as a “Technology Watch” within the team, keeping abreast of developments in related areas, disseminating this information and assisting with the formulation of forward plans for adoption where appropriate. Contribute to ICT service planning by establishing business needs and proposing ICT solutions. Lead, manage and deliver cross functional improvement Programmes and Projects including the management of several projects concurrently. Propose and develop appropriate ICT policies and review / update these policies and documentation. Supports the asset and change management processes through thorough record keeping and reporting (and supports other ITIL disciplines). Analyses and repairs product failures (software and hardware) including the Interpretation of diagnostics reports (e.g. system logs, application logs, fault codes etc.) to determine root causes. Providing advice on the interpretation and application of ICT. policies (such as coco, ITIL, PSN), technical principles and regulations/legislation. Who we’re looking for: Someone with strong technical knowledge and proven experience of managing large enterprise applications. Extensive technical, specialist, and theoretical knowledge of the applications life cycle, including design, development, and support. Theoretical and practical knowledge of the effective application of ICT in organizations, especially the public service sector. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
