Description The Impact Analytics team at Convex is part of our Portfolio Optimisation (PO) function and supports the underwriters across Insurance and Reinsurance with the analysis and pricing of risks. This pricing actuary role forms part of the senior team and reports directly to the Head of Impact Analytics. You will take leadership of pricing and portfolio management for all reinsurance lines with a particular focus on property (re)insurance and natural perils. Furthermore, you will work collaboratively with other reinsurance experts in PO, across pricing, planning, natural catastrophe analytics, ceded and capital, evolving our market-leading tooling and analytics and progressing PO strategic goals. Active engagement and building strong relationships with underwriting will be key, resulting in increased transparency and confidence in analytics provided.

Key Responsibilities Some of the key tasks may include:

Net portfolio design for property insurance and all reinsurance lines. Nurture excellent relationships with underwriters, focused on providing superior service and reliable intelligence. Develop Convex views of major (modelled and non-modelled) perils and resulting full loss ratio distributions while ensuring that these views are reflected consistently throughout the underwriting cycle. Leading and driving the design and vision of tooling for Property Reinsurance. Influence and contribute to PO strategic goals within Reinsurance through working collaboratively across PO. Provide leadership and mentorship within the Impact Analytics team with responsibility for managing two junior members. Proactively progress and influence ongoing projects within PO.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise Extensive actuarial pricing experience across treaty reinsurance lines, with a focus on natural peril exposed classes such as property treaty and property insurance. An opinion on tooling and how they can work in conjunction for the benefit of underwriting and portfolio analysis. Collaborative nature, which reflects itself in your ability to share workload and foster open communication with your peers across Convex and the humility to recognise other people’s strengths and how they complement your skill set. Influencing skills, meaning you know how to detect your stakeholders’ needs and think about the right ways to provide support. You’ll understand underwriters’ priorities and how you can add value. Communicate with impact; you are a thoughtful and effective communicator with a diverse audience both face-to-face and in writing.
