Our Greater Manchester based client is a diversified civil, mechanical and electrical engineering company specialising in the design, build and maintenance of vital infrastructure. Working on behalf of both private and public sector organisations, and often in highly regulated environments, our client has a strong track record of delivering complex transport, education, environmental, industrial, energy and utilities infrastructure projects.

Role - In-house Construction Solicitor:

To support the company and internal stakeholders, and to meet an increase in demand for its services, our client seeks to recruit a dedicated construction solicitor to focus on civil, mechanical and electrical engineering projects.

Working on a varied mix of construction, civil engineering and infrastructure matters, as In-house Construction Solicitor you will work across the business, supporting on bid/tender documentation, negotiating and drafting standard form and bespoke construction contracts, handling subcontract agreements, dealing with novation agreements, and providing other ad hoc advice as required.

Our client utilises a range of standard forms including the NEC suits of contracts as well as JCT, FIDIC and IChemE contracts.

This is a super opportunity to join an established and reputable civil engineering company as a true legal business partner. You will have direct involvement in business decisions and negotiations with third parties, you will have responsibility for advising internal stakeholders and managing your own caseload, and you will be encouraged to offer commercially sound advice and an opinion.

About you:

To be considered for the position of In-house Construction Solicitor, you should have at least 3 years' PQE of working on construction and engineering projects, and ideally have existing experience of NEC 3 and 4 contracts, or have JCT experience and be willing to develop knowledge of NEC contracts.

Existing in-house experience is appealing however it is not essential. More important to your success is a willingness to learn, to contribute and to operate commercially as a legal business partner.
