Our client is a scientifically innovative company who lead extensive collaborations and offer services to the Drug Discovery and Disease Research sectors on a non-for profit basis. They collaborate with lead researchers, industrial partners and organisations to enhance the understanding of immunological, oncological, neurological and other disease areas.

Based in Alderley Park, they are offering an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and hard-working individual to join their in vivo team on a fixed-term basis (initially a 12 month contract) as a Scientist. The Role

This is a role for a BSc or MSc holder (or equivalent experience) who has gained additional experience in an in vivo / animal husbandry position in industry or academia. Primarily, this role will involve:

Animal husbandry (rodent models mostly) Perform Dosing, Sample collection in compliance with Home Office PIL regulations. Monitoring animal health and wellbeing. Designing and adhering to in vivo experimental plans relating to rodent models of disease research (mostly oncology but potentially other disease areas) Assessing xenograph tumour growth Dissection and removal of specific tissues for downstream laboratory analysis Keeping an accurate record of experiments to ensure Home Office (HO) compliance. Working on multiple projects simultaneously with a high degree of accuracy. Working with different teams working on the same larger projects. Ensuring project deadlines are hit and that the work has been completed to the expected standard.

Skills and Experience Needed:

Suitable applicants will have:

A BSc in a biological, or equivalent, discipline (essential, equivalent experience welcome) 3+ years of experience working on in vivo projects or animal husbandry (essential - lesser experience can be considered) Proven experience in some or all of the following in vivo techniques: tumour implantation, sample collection, euthanasia, surgery and tumour excision (essential) Prior experience of working on in vivo models of disease (essential) An understanding of Home Office PIL regulations (essential) The ability to run multiple projects simultaneously whilst still being able to meet project deadlines (essential) Ability to plan and execute projects whilst managing your own workload and time (essential) PIL A and B home office licence (desired) Experience in dosing (desired) Industry or post-graduate academic experience (desired)
