We have a vacancy for an Inclusion Advisor and County Lead for Herts Therapeutic Thinking, within the Specialist Advice and Support Service. Therapeutic Thinking Hertfordshire is Hertfordshire's preferred approach to supporting positive behaviour management in schools and settings (previously known as Steps). About the role This role is responsible for leading the development and delivery of Hertfordshire’s preferred approach to managing behaviour for children and young people aged 0-25, Hertfordshire Steps. You will support the Specialism Lead for Speech Language Communication and Autism and County Lead for Access and Inclusion in providing expert professional advice about behaviour policy and inclusive practice across Hertfordshire, especially for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and/or other additional needs. Main Areas of Responsibility: Lead the strategic development, operational delivery and evaluation of Hertfordshire Therapeutic Thinking across the County. Train, supervise and quality assure all Herts Therapeutic Thinking Tutors across all settings and services to ensure the implementation of the approach is high quality and effective. Provide expert advice and guidance about effective and safe management of difficult/detrimental behaviour to Headteachers in special and mainstream settings, leadership teams, Heads of Service and leaders in other agencies. Manage and monitor the budget for Herts Therapeutic Thinking, ensuring income targets are met and resources are used effectively. About you Essential: Expertise in behaviour management. Hold a current Herts Therapeutic Thinking tutor certificate. Successful experience of delivering Therapeutic Thinking training. At least five years’ experience of working in a school or educational setting. Thorough knowledge and experience of legislation, policy and practice for children with special educational/additional needs, behaviour and pupil welfare, including exclusion and attendance. A knowledge of and commitment to the benefits of a therapeutic approach to behaviour. Ability to support, advise and challenge sensitively and skilfully to achieve positive outcomes and maintain effective professional relationships. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes. Desirable: Management experience in a setting/service for children and young people with significant special educational/additional needs. Educated to degree level with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Experience of teaching children and young people with autism, ADHD and/or SLCN. The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support schools in embedding approaches to improve inclusive practice for children and young people, as well as supporting the Local Authority processes as required under the direction of the Specialism Lead by attending various meetings and reviews on behalf of the service. As part of the role, the post holder will work collaboratively with the Delivering Special Provision Locally (DSPL) Partnerships and other colleagues both within and outside SEND SAS to promote early intervention and excellent inclusive practice.
