A full UK driving licence and use of own vehicle is essential to this role JOB OVERVIEW We have a fantastic new job opportunity for an Income Officer / Rent Arrears Debt Recovery Advisor with experience in a similar debt recovery / income collection / financial inclusion role, and an understanding of social housing. Working as the Income Officer / Rent Arrears Debt Recovery Advisor you will work closely with the Neighbourhood Officers, taking responsibility for the appropriate and effective recovery of rent arrears, service charges and sundry debts within a defined area. As the Income Officer / Rent Arrears Debt Recovery Advisor you will coordinate and manage legal action to recover arrears and other debts as well as provide a liaison service between the organisation and the housing benefit team across a range of Local Authorities and with the Department for Work and Pensions. You will also provide financial inclusion advice and information to support and provide debt awareness advice to customers. CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS The ideal candidate for this Income Officer / Rent Arrears Debt Recovery Advisor role will be able to leverage a background in assisting customers with financial challenges, drawing on transferrable customer service skills to effectively engage and guide a wide range of customers, including those in vulnerable situations. You will need strong organisation skills to help you meet deadlines, prioritise tasks, and handle multiple cases efficiently. To support your documentation and reporting responsibilities you will need a familiarity with Microsoft Office tools, such as Word, Excel and Outlook. You will need excellent communication and empathetic listening skills to address customer concerns, provide clear information and negotiate positive outcomes. A proactive approach to learning will help you keep up-to-date on relevant legislation and referral pathways to ensure customers receive the specialised support they need.
