My client: My client is a leading multi-practice law firm who are looking to hire into their personal injury litigation team, particularly military claims and industrial disease cases. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional customer service and providing expert legal advice and support to our clients. We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Claims Handler to manage a caseload of military claims against the Ministry of Defence and industrial disease cases. Overall Purpose of the Role : As a Military & Industrial Disease Claims Handler, you will be responsible for managing a diverse caseload of military claims and industrial disease cases. Your expertise in personal injury litigation, particularly military claims and industrial diseases such as Noise-Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) and Short Tail/Long Tail diseases, will ensure the successful handling of complex and high-value claims. The role requires the ability to manage high volumes of work, while adhering to strict compliance standards and providing excellent customer service. Key Responsibilities : Demonstrate a solid understanding of the technical aspects of litigated military and industrial disease cases. Manage a high-volume caseload of military claims (both litigated and pre-litigated) and industrial disease claims. Maintain an excellent working knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR), military claims regulations, and relevant case law related to industrial disease (NIHL, Short Tail, and Long Tail diseases). Take individual responsibility for a caseload while working collaboratively within a team. Apply strong decision-making skills and demonstrate commercial awareness in your approach to case handling. Achieve financial targets on both a monthly and annual basis, contributing to the profitability of the team. Provide outstanding client care and communication, ensuring clients are well-informed and supported throughout the legal process. Effectively manage risk and work in line with both internal and external compliance standards. Build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues, clients, and external agencies. Utilise the PROCLAIM case management system to manage caseloads and maintain detailed records. Job Knowledge, Skills & Experience : Previous experience handling complex and high-value claims, specifically military claims and industrial disease cases (Noise Induced Hearing Loss, Short Tail, and Long Tail diseases). Will also develop the right candidate into this area if you have pre litigation fee earning experience in ID and NIHL Excellent working knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) and relevant legal frameworks. Proven ability to draft court documents with precision and efficiency. Strong advocacy and fact-finding skills. Excellent telephone manner and client communication skills. Experience with cost budgeting and management, including cost case management conferences. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong organisational and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Experience with the PROCLAIM case management system (or similar systems) is desirable. A strong commitment to customer service with the ability to meet service level agreements and deadlines.
