An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the IBD Nurse Specialist team. We are a small team that works closely together for the benefit of IBD patients. We are looking to welcome a highly motivated, confident and enthusiastic nurse who will be an integral part of our supportive IBD nursing service. The successful applicant will work closely with the IBD Advanced Clinical Practitioner and the MDT to provide excellent, specialised nursing care and support for patients with IBD in inpatient and outpatient clinic settings. Main duties of the job

Accept patient referrals to agreed criteria and be identified as the key worker for an agreed group of IBD patients. Provide professional and clinical leadership in the care of patients with IBD. Assist in providing a high-quality Inflammatory Bowel Disease service throughout the hospital. Assess and educate patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Provide information and advice to ward nurses. Assist in maintaining the IBD helpline by being a first point of contact for patients in the community. Act as a resource to patients, carers, and other health care professionals within the hospitals and community by providing expert knowledge and advice. Communicate effectively as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team to achieve a coordinated service across the Trust. Provide education and support the development of other staff members. Qualifications

RGN Broad range of clinical experience, post-registration experience at a senior level. Recent evidence of study in speciality or related field. Gastro/IBD Experience. Skills

Excellent communication skills in difficult situations. Demonstrates clinical expertise. Ability to make evidence-based clinical decisions. Ability to manage own workload, with minimal supervision. Teaching and assessing skills. IT skills/email/spreadsheets ability to create and present information. Evidence of service development and change. Production of policies, guidelines.
